Orders issued under section 144 regarding Lok Sabha general elections-2024
Kurukshetra(Rana). District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sharma said that due to the general elections to the Lok Sabha to be held in Kurukshetra district on 25 May, there is tension, trouble, obstruction or injury to person, danger to human life and property within the revenue limits of district Kurukshetra. Keeping in view the possibility of disturbance to public peace and harmony, orders have been passed under Section 144.
Additionally, possession and carrying of firearms and ammunition within the revenue limits of District Kurukshetra, even by license holders, is likely to create hindrance to the maintenance of peace and public order.
District Magistrate and Shantanu Sharma said in the orders issued that to avoid danger to human life and property and public peace, riot or fight and to maintain peace and harmony and to conduct the upcoming Lok Sabha general elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner, no It has become necessary to impose a ban on carrying any type of firearms and weapons and to deposit all the firearms and ammunition in the possession of the licensees with the concerned police stations or registered arms dealers. Therefore, under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 and under the Arms Act 1959, restrictions are imposed on all license holders from carrying firearms and weapons.
This order applies to the authorized security guards deployed in various banks/private banks having license in the name of the banks/authorized security guards deployed in various ATMs/security deployed in vans carrying cash for refilling cash in ATMs and safe transportation in district Kurukshetra. Will apply to everyone except guards. This order will also not apply to police and other public servants on duty.
He said that all arms license holders should immediately deposit the firearms and ammunition with their respective police
stations/authorized arms dealers along with proper receipt. It will be the duty of the concerned SHO/Arms Dealer to ensure safe custody of all the firearms deposited. License holders can take back their firearms from the concerned SHO and Arms Dealer on production of receipt on any day after the completion of the election process. This order will come into effect with immediate effect and will remain in force until the election process is completed. Superintendent of Police Kurukshetra, all SDMs, DSPs and SHOs will ensure that these orders are followed. Police officers will take proactive steps to detect unlicensed weapons and seize them as per rules. If these orders are violated, legal action will be taken under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
