Chandigarh. The state government on Tuesday stopped a delegation of Congress leaders, led by Haryana Congress president Udaibhan and MP Deepender Hooda, midway by deploying heavy police force. The Congress leaders had on Monday announced the program to the visit the riot affected areas.
Briefing the media after being stopped by the police, senior member of the delegation Deepender Hooda while said the Congress delegation had already announced its program to visit Nalhar temple, meet Nuh residents, the grain market to meet traders, local shopkeepers and all other victims. “We wanted to meet those who have suffered loss of life and property, whose houses were demolished illegally and people whose vehicles were burnt. We wanted to know the suffering of every religion and every community, and wanted to heal their wounds and wanted to appeal for peace,” he said.
Deepender said if the government had deployed even half of the police force deployed in Nuh to stop us at the right time, this incident could have been avoided. “But despite the intelligence report, no police deployment was made in Nuh. This type of atmosphere is being created again and again in Haryana, for which the government is completely responsible,” he added.
“The Haryana government is now looking for excuses to escape from its responsibility. I once again appeal to the people of Haryana to maintain peace and brotherhood and not pay any attention to the rumours,” he stated.
Deepender said the martyrdom of two Home Guard jawans is begging the question about where the police was at that time of the incident, and how the situation was allowed to get out of hand. He demanded that the two Home Guard jawans who lost their lives in the Nuh incident should be accorded the status of martyr on par with ‘police on duty’, a family member should be given a job and financial assistance should be given to the family of the martyr.
He said that the government is not able to make police arrangements when needed, now what does the government want to hide by blocking our way and stopping the delegation from meeting the affected people? “The government will not success, now no matter how much it ties to hides its face, and divert attention. The people of Haryana have understood the trick of the government, that’s why they were not provoked, and maintained peace and brotherhood. The people of Haryana have also come to know that there is a completely failed government in the state,” he said.
