Chandigarh: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said that the BJP-JJP government has pushed the industrial city Panipat, which led Haryana’s development, into the abyss of backwardness by. He said the time had now come to throw out this government and take the entire Haryana including Panipat back on the path of progress.
Hooda was speaking as the chief guest at the public meeting organized by former MLA Bulleh Shah today. On reaching the program, Hooda was given a grand welcome with drums and dance-songs. Flowers were showered from the sky to welcome him as if the entire city of Panipat had turned out to welcome the Congress.
Party state president Chaudhary Udaybhan aur Mp Deepender Hooda was also present along with Hooda on this occasion. There was tremendous zeal and enthusiasm among the thousands of people present. All the dignitaries of Panipat, which included industrialists, delegations of various organizations, senior party leaders and party workers were present in the programme.
Hooda spent several hours with everyone, in mutual dialogue, as they had detailed discussion about the present conditions, problems, people’s aspirations, suggestions and future policies of the state, including Panipat. He said the people of the state have made up their mind to form the Congress government and only election formalities are pending in Haryana.
Congress is continuously organizing public meetings with the aim of providing a welfare government to the public in future. Through these programmes, the party gets an opportunity to understand the minds of the people and get in-depth information about their demands. Congress will decide its manifesto and policies of the government in future basis its dialogue with the public.
Prior to the program, Hooda addressed a press conference with Congress State President Chaudhary Udaybhan. On this occasion, he said that the present government has made Haryana number one in terms of unemployment, crime and inflation. “Government reports and statistics attest this. While Haryana was the number one state in development during the Congress tenure, the aim of the Congress is to make Haryana the number one state of the country again,” Hooda said.
“For this, all the announcements like ₹ 6000 pension to the elderly, old pension scheme for employees, free 100 square yards plots of to the poor, gas cylinders for ₹ 500 and recruitment to all 2 lakh vacant government posts will be fulfilled,” he stated.
Hooda said that BJP-JJP has failed in every field, from health, education to agriculture. “The government refused to give grants to the universities, due to which now the universities are increasing their fees. Due to this, the children of poor and middle class families will gradually be deprived of education. The condition of the health sector is such that there are no doctors and staff in the hospitals,” he pointed out
Talking about the farmers, Hooda said the government doubled the input cost, instead of doubling their income. “During the Congress tenure, everything, from the farmer’s fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, to farming equipment were tax free. VAT on diesel was half that of BJP. But by imposing GST up to 28% on all agricultural items, the BJP put an additional burden of cost on the farmers,” he stated.
State Congress president Chaudhary Udaybhan said the present government has done nothing, except scams during its entire tenure. “Maximum scams have taken place in JJP’s departments. This is the reason why JJP will not withdraw support from BJP under any circumstances, but the people of the state are ready to uproot this government steeped in corruption. This time JJP will be completely wiped out and BJP will be reduced to single digit,” he said.
